The Rules for the 2012 competition are currently under review by the Committee but we are not expecting significant changes (if any) from the 2011 rules.
As a reminder, the 2011 rules were as follows:-
- Select one player from each of the 17 clubs. However, the player selected cannot be an ineligible player (‘an ineligible player’ is defined as a winner in the past 5 Brownlow Medal counts – Chris Judd, Gary Ablett, Adam Cooney, Jimmy Bartel, Adam Goodes).
- Selections to be submitted to the Carji Club website before Wednesday 23rd March.
- Prior to 17th June (start of Round 13), Members may substitute up to 3 of their originally selected players. Once again those players cannot be ineligible players.
- Your score is calculated by total amount of Brownlow votes received by your 17 players for the 2011 season plus bonus votes (see rule 7 below).
- If one of your players is suspended during the 2011 season, his votes are still counted.
- Bonus votes are awarded for the following selections. Note you must have made this selection prior to 23rd March to be eligible for the bonus points:
- Selecting the Brownlow winner 15 bonus points. If there are multiple Brownlow winners, you still only get a maximum of 15 bonus points.
- Bonus points are not applicable if the Brownlow winner is included within the three (3) substituted players.
- Reminder: There are no longer bonus points available for selecting either the NAB Rising Star or Coleman Medallist.
- Ten highest point scorers (the Final 10) are shouted lunch & drinks at the Annual Carji Club Lunch on Friday 14th October 2011.
- The highest point scorer (the Outright Winner) is awarded the Hugo Boss Carji Club Jacket and Carji Club Medal. In the event of tied scores, to determine the higher point scorer, a count back will apply based on votes of the original 17 players (that is, the votes awarded prior to substitutions). If after the count back, scores are still tied, the higher point scorer will be decided by a coin toss.
- The Outright Winner must be a fully paid up Member of the Carji Club Inc.
- The Member with the lowest points score becomes the proud recipient of the Carji Wooden Spoon.
- The non winning members (the Losers) will shout the Final 10 at the Annual Carji Club Lunch on Friday 14th October.
